6.7.10 I've come to believe in the power of Social Media. And like most people of my generation, and those with whom I work, I've been very skeptical.

It's taken me a year to understand what it is, why it's so big, and what it accomplishes.
Why it has so much value to a business's marketing. And its limitations, cost, and return.
Dangers too.

My net is this: social media has the power to build confidence, on many levels.
As such its power is immense; its potential just beginning to be tapped.

Social media is an opportunity for a Brand to present its authenticity. And, to learn
what the market thinks about it in real time.

It can also generate traffic to events, publications, and Web properties which
drive demand and close sales.

But like all other media, it requires a strategic framework to ground it. Or it's just play.

And it's definitely not a panacea.

Integrating it with Brand has become part of what I do, and ThomasBoston offers, in
alliance with several remarkable social media practitioners.
